Who is responsible for your information
Marie Harding Counselling Service is responsible for personal information handled through this website. The practice is based at12 Percival Street, Kanturk, Co. Cork.
Information you choose to provide
If you use the contact form or callback form, you may provide your name, email address, phone number, preferred contact details, and either a short message or preferred contact time.
Please do not include highly sensitive personal information in the contact form.
How enquiry information is used
Contact and callback form submissions are sent to email for the purpose of responding to your enquiry. Messages are not stored in a website database.
Information submitted through the contact form is processed on the basis of consent and legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.
Optional website analytics
Google Analytics is currently disabled on this website while the counselling-domain and under-16 consent risks receive separate review. If it is activated after that review, it will remain optional and will be used only after an eligible person choosesI explicitly allow analytics. Its purpose is to understand aggregate visit numbers and whether people use the call, email, WhatsApp, appointment or enquiry options. You can use the website and contact Marie without allowing analytics.
The website sends only fixed interaction categories, such as the contact method used, whether a contact or callback form was started, and whether an enquiry was successfully submitted. It does not send names, contact details, messages, form answers, preferred contact times or health information entered in forms. It does not send the names or paths of counselling-topic pages. However, a visit to a counselling website may itself suggest a health or wellbeing interest.
After consent, Google Analytics may process a pseudonymous browser identifier, session statistics, general browser and device information, approximate location, referral source and the limited interaction categories described above. Advertising personalisation, Google Signals, user-provided data collection, enhanced measurement and granular location and device collection are disabled for this Analytics property.
The lawful basis for optional analytics would be consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and, where analytics information may reveal or suggest health-related information, explicit consent under Article 9(2)(a) GDPR. The prepared consent control requires a separate, express confirmation before its allow button becomes available.
If you are under 16, a parent or guardian must make this optional analytics choice on your behalf. The prepared confirmation asks the person making the choice to state that they are at least 16 or are acting as the parent or guardian of a visitor under 16. The website does not collect an age or date of birth.
Cookies and browser storage
mhcs-analytics-consent-v4remembers whether analytics was allowed or declined, together with the date and notice version. For an acceptance, it also records that the age or parent-or-guardian confirmation was made; it does not record an age or date of birth. The choice is kept for no more than 180 days, after which the website asks again._gaand_ga_<identifier>are first-party Google Analytics cookies used to distinguish a browser and retain session state. This website limits them to 180 days without renewing that period on each visit. Browser controls may shorten this period.mhcs-pending-leadis short-lived session storage containing onlycontactorcallback. It prevents a successful form outcome from being counted again if the confirmation page is refreshed and is removed after the check or when the browser session ends.
Service providers and international transfers
Information is not sold. Enquiry information may be processed by email service providers used to send and receive messages. Optional analytics information is processed by Google Ireland Limited and relevant Google group service providers under theGoogle Ads Data Processing Terms.
Where Google processing involves a transfer outside the European Economic Area, Google describes the transfer mechanisms and safeguards it uses, including standard contractual clauses where applicable, in itsinternational data-transfer information. Google also explainshow it uses information from sites that use its services.
Data retention
Enquiry emails may be retained only as long as needed for communication and record-keeping.
The Google Analytics property is configured to retain non-key event data for 2 months. User-level and key-event data may be retained for up to 14 months, and the user-level period restarts after new activity. Google's retention setting does not remove aggregate information from its standard reports. The browser-storage periods used by this website are described above.
Changing or withdrawing your analytics choice
Select Cookie preferences in the website footer at any time, then choose Decline analytics. This disables analytics, removes the Google Analytics cookies that this website can access and reloads the page. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that lawfully occurred before withdrawal and does not automatically erase information that Google already processed.
Your rights
Subject to applicable legal limits, you may request access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, restriction of processing, data portability, or object to processing. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time.
You may also lodge a complaint with Ireland's Data Protection Commission.
