Grief does not follow a tidy path. Some days may feel flat and manageable, while others may feel raw, disorientating, or unexpectedly heavy.
What counselling may offer
Bereavement counselling can offer:
- space to speak honestly about the loss
- support with the practical impact of grief on daily life
- a place to notice patterns such as withdrawal, guilt, or exhaustion
- steadiness when family and friends are grieving too
What counselling cannot promise
Counselling cannot remove grief or force it into stages.
It cannot make a loss feel small or tidy.
It should not promise that pain will disappear on a schedule.
Why support may still matter
Even when grief is a natural response, support can still be helpful. It may make it easier to carry what has happened and to live through the practical strain that often comes with bereavement.
When wider support may help too
Some people also need wider bereavement information or family support. The Resources page includes the Irish Hospice Foundation and other official supports that may be useful alongside counselling.
If you want to ask whether bereavement support may suit you, you can contact Marie and keep your first message brief.
